Wolven: Leggings Made Of Used Plastic

Fast fashion is common in the United States. But what if we could have clothes that are sustainable and take plastic from the ocean?

Leggings made from plastic water bottles?

Leggings are one of my favorite pieces of clothing to wear, so it is nice to know that there is a sustainable option. 11.2 billion pounds of plastic is on its way to the ocean every year. 2.5 million pounds of plastic are disposed of each hour by Americans alone.

Woven is a company dedicated to making sustainable workout clothes. Every pair of leggings requires 27 plastic bottles from the ocean. Wolven sanitizes and cleans water bottles from the ocean, then make the plastic bottles into non-toxic pellets. From there they spin the pellets into yarn and weave them into the fabric.

Wolven also has 79% fewer carbon emissions than its counterparts. 20% of Wolven's profit is donated to the plastic pollution coalition. Help spread the word by using these hashtags. (#wolven #savetheplanet #CCYA)
